Barford Bat Barn

Betts Estates acquired this Warwickshire site from Taylor Wimpey; on the edge of a housing development just off Wellesbourne Road. The ecological significance of the site concerned an existing bat roost which would have to be demolished to build the housing development.

Essential to gaining the planning permission was a suitable plan to ensure the survival of these bats, with the most appropriate course of action being to build them a new roost. Betts Estates were instrumental in the development of the plan to construct a new building to act as a roost, in addition to the installation of further bat boxes on the exterior of the building and on many trees across the site.

Today, Betts Estates maintain the building and monitor bat activity, leaving Taylor Wimpey free of long-term obligations relating to bats at this site.
