Background
Betts Ecology were called in to advise on barn owls roosting, nesting and breeding in a hangar to be demolished.

Operations
Betts Ecology surveyed the site and assessed usage by barn owls; nest observations; pellet collection and analysis; advice provided on avoiding adverse impact on the adults and owlets; liaison with Natural England; provision of alternative nest sites including conversion of unused structure for barn owls to use.
Outcome
Betts Ecology were able to provide a practical solution that assured conservation of the owls and resolved the requirements of the client with regard to the hangar’s demolition.
